Alexander John Motyl, translator Shevchenko's Poems in EnglishAlexander John Motyl (Олександр Мотиль) is a Ukrainian-American historian, political scientist, poet, writer, translator and painter.
He was born October 21, 1953, in New York City. Alexander Motyl studied at Columbia University, obtained BA in History in 1975 and a Ph.D. in Political Science in 1984. He has taught at Columbia University, Lehigh University, and Harvard University. He is professor of political science at Rutgers University-Newark at present.
