Sandbags is a bilingual tanka in Irish and English (5-7-5-7-7 syllables) by Gabriel Rosenstock:

táid ag rith as am
bailíonn siad málaí gainimh
dá mbard náisiúnta
     chosain seisean a dteanga
     in aghaidh scrios is díchuimhne

sands of time run out
and yet they gather sandbags
to protect their poet:
he once shored up their language
           against winds of destruction
