«Beneath the Flames» by Brian Buch is a five movement work for chorus and orchestra based on the poetry of Taras Shevchenko and the folk music of Ukraine. Dedicated to the people and country of Ukraine, who have had to endure unimaginable hardships since the Russian invasion of their country. This is a recording of the premiere from Lviv on March 14th, 2024 by the KLK Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ferdinando Nazzaro.

"Monument to Taras Shevchenko in Kiev has long been the center of all activities associated with the name of the Great Ukrainian and at the same time one of the symbols of the capital. However, yet not so long ago, as you might think, knowing that the deep respect with which our people refers to Taras Shevchenko. Monument in front of the "red" building of Kyiv National University, which is also named after Taras Shevchenko, was opened March 6, 1939 - exactly 75 years ago. Open from the fifth attempt, after a long struggle for the very possibility of such a perpetuation of the memory Shevchenko!" 

 

A personal exhibition of paintings by artist Vasyl Heletko "The roads by Taras" was opened at the address: Kyiv, Shevchenko's lane, 8a. The author invites everybody who love our Ukraine! Admission free. 

 

 

 

 

The worldwide community of museums celebrate International Museum Day on and around 18 May 2017 around the theme Museums and contested histories: Saying the unspeakable in museums. Taras Shevchenko National Museum decided to show "Silenced" side of the museum - not its collection or exhibition, but secret rooms which reveal the secrets of museum work from the "inside".

 

Ambassadors of foreign countries presented outstanding literary works, which are as important for their countries as Shevchenko's "Zapovit" for Ukraine. The world's largest edition of the "Kobzar" poetry collection was presented at the event. A two-meter-high book contains several poems.

 

 

On the occasion of the great Ukrainian poet and artist's birthday, workers of the United States embassy in Kyiv have recorded a video where they quote famous excerpts from Shevchenko poems.
The diplomats declaim poems against the background of well-known American sights that have to do with Shevchenko and Ukraine.

On the 10th of March, on the occasion of the 201st anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birthday and of the 154th anniversary of his death dean of the faculty of humanities initiated the recitation of the poems written by Shevchenko. The recitation took place in The Ukrainian Catholic University Academic building. Everyone, who was willing to come could bring his own “Kobzar” and read his favorite poem. Not only students responded to the call to come and read the poems, but also professors and university administration joined the occasion.

20-hour marathon to be held on occasion of Taras Shevchenko's birthday. During a marathon to be broadcast live, it is planned to recite works of the poet.

Redesigned 100-UAH note with Taras Shevchenko's portrait will be introduced on 9 March 2015.

 

The Taras Shevchenko School of Ukrainian Studies of Greater Washington invites and encourages all children ages 3-16 who understand and speak Ukrainian, as well as those who are interested in expanding their knowledge of the Ukrainian language, culture, history and other subjects, to enroll in the school.
